James O. Williams

James O. (Greasy) Williams, 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:27 A.M., Sunday, December 7, 2003 at the Skilled Care Unit of Pinckneyville Hospital in Pinckneyville, IL.
Greasy was a retired foreman at Consol Coal Company.  He had worked for twenty years as a UMW of A miner for Gibraltar Coal Corp. in Central City, Kentucky.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a member of UMW of A Local 1092.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II. 
He was born June 1, 1926 at Oakland City, Indiana, the son of Russell O. and Neoma (Rock) Williams.
He married Mara Lou Maikranz on February 7, 1948 at Petersburg, Indiana and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - James A. Williams and wife Shirley of Tamaroa, one daughter - Linda Campanella and husband Frank of Du Quoin, three sisters - Imogene Beck of Petersburg, IN, Georgia Barrett and husband Denver of Winslow, IN, and Kathern Wilson and husband Linden of Petersburg, IN, two brothers - William Williams and wife Mary of Otwell, IN, and Bob Williams and wife Pam of Braceville, IL, two brother-in-laws - Everett Barrett of Winslow, IN and Earl Norrington, Jr. of Petersburg, IN, six grandchildren - Vickie Thompson and husband Greg of Pinckneyville, Cara Huntley and husband Dylan of Greenville, IL, Jamie Williams and wife Angie of Pinckneyville, Kenny Williams of Tamaroa, James Frank Campanella and Terry A. Campanella, both of Du Quoin, three great grandchildren - Shelbie, Grant, and Holden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters - Thelma Barrett and Vivian Norrington, and one brother - Donald in infancy.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Tim McIntyre officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 7 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
